This certainly has been a year filled with opportunities for transformation in so many aspects of our lives. It feels to me like there has been much cocooning, adapting and gestating the past months. Now it feels like an emergence is occurring, like the butterfly emerging into its new life.
As with all transformation, in order to make space for the new, we have to leave some of the past behind. What skins have you shed so that the new can be birthed? Beliefs? Routines? Lifestyle habits? Work? And who knows how long our current state will last? Butterflies can live in the adult stage from anywhere between a week and a year, depending on the species. Some of us are even migrating like monarch butterflies, who sometimes travel over 2500 miles in a year.
There are between 15,000 and 20,000 different species of butterfly. So much beautiful diversity. Like humans, they come in all varieties, persuasions, colors, and preferences. They have different superpowers, blind spots, perspectives and intelligences. One thing all butterflies have in common is that they have taste receptors on their feet.
Humans have many receptors on their feet, though they aren’t used to taste. Those receptors, when barefoot on the ground, connect with Earth’s surface electrons and transfer the energy from the ground into our body. Scientific research shows that the Earth’s electrons induce multiple positive physiological changes, including reduced pain and better sleep. Thanks to Dr. Gaetan Chevalier, Clint Ober and others for this pioneering work on the power of Earthing.
I also find that after a day of work, putting my feet on the ground or in the grass makes a noticeable difference to me. It is great way to release the mental energy circulating inside by grounding it, which brings me back into the now.

I love this, especially the part of missing the special moments if you had solely focused on your to do list. Sometimes those things can wait to make way for what really matters! Roseann Erich Victory
